Making a Permanent dipstick for a V6 W203...

From the Tech forum, here's a thread on measuring and making your own dipstick for owners of V6 C240s or C320's who have only a plug in their dipstick tubes...

I still think it's easier, now that you have length and where the markings go, to measure from the top and just cut it off anywhere beyond that point, leaving a small part for "good measure". For example, if after seating the stick, the correct millimeter reading is 10 inches from the top, isn't it easier for people to just cut the thing to say 12 inches and mark it from the top down? Why worry about the bottom (hitting sump, etc.) once the measurements are known?

Fine, Mark. Let us know when you've computed the top down measurements.
