You picked a nice wheel! My wife balked at the cost also, but I wanted something I wouldn't see on every car I passed; hence the HRE purchase. They did cost $$$, so make sure you keep the proper tire pressure in them, or you will eventually be reward with a bent wheel. 35+ psi for the fronts...

That is one of the stupidest things i've ever heard!

I am sure that there are TONS of million even billionaires that can easily afford even 10 grand or more on wheels and do not even know of HRE or even care to follow wheel companies.

If my rewording of that old cliche' is one of the stupidest things that you have ever heard, then you must live an awfully sheltered life.

My point was that many people see HRE wheels and say in quick order,
1. Wow, those are some really nice wheels.
2. I want some of those wheels.
3. How much were they those wheels?
4. Jesus, you are joking....Right?

I think, that the decision to buy HRE wheels is one that is seldom clouded with rational calculations of money spent. Certainly, esthetic. Perhaps, emotional. But, at the end of the day, they are just wheels.

I am in complete agreement with your point about TONS of millionaires being unaware of the existance of HRE or their products. Few people of any socio-economic level are car enthusiasts and even fewer still are willing to pay the price of HRE for wheels.

Wheels are worth $6500 of value to you? Amazing.

I can't imagine spending 1/4 of the price of my car on wheels.

You forgot to add about $1,000+ for just the right tires to set off the right wheels! What amazes me is not he price, but the car that people put these on. If I had money to burn the C32 would be higher on my priority list than $7,500 worth of shoes for my coupe. But everyone has different priorities.

Pros of Forged/HRE vs cast:

PROS:

Stronger for any given weight

Lighter for any required application strength

Multi-piece wheels can replace rim sections or center if damaged

More open designs for better brake ventilation

One-piece forged wheels are lightest* (Not multi-piece like HRE)

Forged wheels hold chrome plating better than cast wheels

CONS

Cost,COST, COST

Risk of theft

*RENNtech has a forged one-piece 19X9 wheel that they say is only twenty pounds. An HRE of that size would be weigh quite a bit more.

Good Lord man!!! those are some NICEEEEEEE WHEELLSSSSS. You better be careful of where you park though. $1500 is A LOT per wheel but if you guys think that's expensive, go look at some 26" spinning wheels. I saw a set that ran up to $30,000. I think they had diamonds on them or something. CRAZY stuff. But hey, don't worry about the price, whatever makes you happy makes you happy huh? You worked hard for your money and you should be able to buy whatever you want. Whoever puts you down for the wheels is only jealous of your car.....cuz I sure am, you rich filthy snob.
