Hey ride00. Can you tell me where is the "mb system" thing they wired the alarm to ? Because I attempted the same thing today and my Installer couldnt find the module or something that's responsible for locking and unlocking, so therefore he used the central locking switch in the dashboard to wire the remotes to , it works right now, but without any indicators on lock/unlock like blinkers and etc and it kinda sucks. Hope you can answer me

Sorry smacone but I have not had time to make a trip to the city to see my installer.
It seems he had a wiring diagram from Clifford's local distributor to help splice the
correct wires for the alarm fitment. It was a rather complicated procedure and the boot
had to be dismantled in order to get to the wiring harness there and also at the front
dash area. Will try to get the info when I am next there. Good luck in the meantime.

Thanks mate, i would be really grateful if you can find the info. So if you get it, come back here and post it. My installer didn't exactly knew where the correct wires were located, tried to work it out for more than 6 hours...with no success. In the end he just wired the alarm to the central lock/unlock switch that's located on the dashboard. You got the idea.
Guess that's why there aren't that much aftermarket alarms for the w203.

I dont think you can apply my wiring codes to your C220 SC as they differ
with each model; mine's a C240 mfgrd in 2000. We checked the exact model
harness plans but it was not applicable and in the end only the 2003 plans
could be followed. Over the phone to my installer just now his advice is that
you call up the alarm manufacturer to supply the correct wiring codes for your
specific W203 model/year. Using any other would jeopardize your MB modules.
So be very cautious when piggybacking anything to your MB. Good luck in
sourcing for the wiring codes.

Did you get it installed yet? Did it solve the problem?

As I mentioned in post #50 the aftermarket alarm unit has been successfully
fitted and its remotes work to lock & unlock from as far as 20 meters from the car.
Single chirp when locking, double when unlocked plus flashing of indicators during
these operations. Equiped with a blue led for alarm status and valet/alarm override.
I opted not to use the auto-arming and also did not instal the trunk opener as
it would require more complicated wiring to the MB system modules
.....less is best for me.
Yes, all problems solved, thanks!

I'm curious too??

If pressing on the headliner doesn't change the radio frequency quality, does that mean the rear window has to be replaced?

Well I did find a solution to my recent loss of radio & key fob connection. I removed & checked all the fuses one by one that were related to the locking system (#8, #9, #21, #22, #32 and #33). I tried it after that and all is well with my Benz world again. It is working without issues for now anyways.
I'm having this common problem thats been talked about a lot on these forums - MB in question is a 2001 C-class Coupe C230K.

Just wandering if I carry out this test (above quote) of removing and then replacing all fuses - whats the danger?

What conditions should I do this in
key in out?
One fuse at a time?

I'd really appreciate any advise as I don't want to cause more problems - bit apprehensive - please could someone assure me that putting all the fuses in question out then in will be safe!

Yes, there are "slots" for the keys so it keeps track of them. My wife and I got new keys because the ones that came with the car were the old style and not in the best of shape. Her's was covered under a warranty we purchased which allows us to get replacements for lost or damaged keys (I wonder where that key went???). Anyway, the SA asked if we wanted to add the key or replace the key. If we replaced our key they could use the same "slot" for the new key as the key we drove the car to the stealer with. Since the key we used to drive to the stealer was the better of the two keys, we elected to add the new key (in case we found the old one , it would still be good and we have three keys.

I've found recently that mine will work from 100yds away when I'm a few floors up...my gf just moved into a condo on the beach and I noticed on accident the toerh day that if i stand on her front door and aim at my car from the 4th floor my car will lock and unlock with ease, but if im 50ft away it pretends to not know me at all... damn you MB engineering!

E320 2004 Wagon
Same reception/locking problem on 2004 E320 wagon

After my car came back from the shop for a rear windshield washer repair, the AM reception/remote door lock problem came with it. Of course, the mechanics can't figure it out (other than trying new key batteries...)
Can I get some help on finding the AM antenna connections and/or amplifier on this model? I know the FM connection is in the left cargo area but can't find anything that affects AM or locking performance there. There is also a black plastic panel in the rear center headliner, above the rear glass, but haven't opened that up yet.
Ideally it would be great to be able to test this circuit and if necessary replace the amplifier without going to the Manhattan dealer and taking out a loan for the repair.
Thanks for any help.

this may be an older post however i recently (past day) have been experiencing the same problem. both my key fobs will not lock/unlock door unless the end of the key fob is touching the ir reciever (little black square on drivers side front door handle).

I have a 2006 C280 4MATIC with 82K on it and I had tints installed a week and 1/2 ago. This problem has just started yesterday

I also checked all fuses associated with "convenience locking" that is found near the fusebox located to the left of the steering wheel on the edge of the dash. I removed and inspected fuse 8, 9, 21, 22, 32, 33 and there are no problems with the fuses. The problem still occurs
