04 Sport sedan - Pre-purchase inspection help
Hey guys
I am considering the purchase of a 2004 C230K Sport sedan w 60k miles, to upgrade my daughter's ride. It is a private sale, no dealerships involved.
What kind of model-specific questions should I ask the current owner about this car? What particular areas are known trouble?
Seller says he has complete maintenance records.

Hi---is it an 04 or 04.5. The difference is the wheels (04 has 7 spoke, 4.5 has 5 spoke staggered wheels). . and bumpers,interior. I had an 04 that was garbage. Bought the car new & had many sensor/electrical problems.Also had carbon build up and I did run the car for long periods at hiway speeds. Fianally traded car in @ apprx 43K...just couldnt deal with it any more. Luckily all was covered under warranty.
The electricals were supposedly corrected in th 04.5. At least thats what I've read on these boards. I say if its an 04---stay away from it
Its a 4 cyl SUPERCHARGED engine. One thing I gotta say...I got great MPG with this car

04' C230 Sport
I love the feel of the it.... the interior is beautiful. The attention to detail is wonderful. But, the M271 is plagued with problems (i.e. carbon issues on the early 04's, ignition coil issues, etc).
Ive owned mine for 4 months, and have racked up what is now an open ended bill. I bought mine with a tic over 48 k on it, have 58k on it presently. As soon as its fixed, its going away, no matter what it costs me.
