What bulb wattage is safe for the stock wiring?

I want to upgrade my headlights in my car from the stock halogen to an Apexcone HID kit from DDM Tuning, but I'm trying to find out what I need to do to prevent the bulb out error message from coming up. Everything I've seen seems to be conflicting. I was just going to get the 35 watt ballast and DDM's warning eliminators, but now in my searching I see that using the 55 watt ballast should not pop the error message. I don't want to run the risk of frying the stock wiring and then have MB void my warranty because the lights aren't factory. I tried looking around, but I didn't see anything. Does anyone know what wattage the stock bulbs are rated at? If I can run the 55 watt ballast and not hurt my car then I would save myself some money because the warning eliminator is $40 for the 55 watt upgrade is only $15.

That is easy the stock halogen bulbs are 55wats just look in your owners Manuel or on the bulbs themselves it says "55watts" right on them i would know i have one sitting on my desk as i type this lol. If you go to your dealer and get the xenon=present you won’t need to get the error cancellers even if you get the 35watt’s from what I understand. Hope this helps next time please search, some of the other members don’t like the people that start new posts when they don’t have many posts and they also don’t like people asking stupid questions so be carefully.

Thank you for your help. I did search, I was searching for over an hour about stuff for the HID conversion. I tried calling the MB dealer but parts was already closed and the parts stores just said all they show is what type of bulb not the wattage.

I have the same kit you are talking about, it is 55W - no errors. You don't need the BOW-3s either. I just installed it, no coding - works great.
