C230K Mats (evo)
Do you guys know what are the mats made of inside?
I mean in terms of washing them, how durable they are. It felt they were paper inside.

i do not know... :o
but, i'd guess that it's pretty durable and not made of any paper (after all, it's supposed to absorb water). for cleaning, i'd use a steam cleaner or one of those rug cleaning sprays. but i haven't done any real cleaning of the mats other than just vacuuming it once in a while.

The backs of the mats seem to be pretty fragile, especially after you get them wet. So don't use anything agressive on the back. One of the things we do at the dealer when detailing is to use a pressure washer with hot water. It works good on those really dirty mats. We soak the mats in some kind of cleaner and then run the pressure washer down the mat over and over again. You can see the dirt running out of it.

I left my mats in for a few weeks during the start of winter and they got stained with all kinds of salt/sand/dirt. To wash them, put them in the bathtub, filled with the some laundry detergent, and hand washed them after soaking for a bit. Turned out perfect, they look like brand new.
One comment about them, they seem to wear really easily, my driver's side mat is already pretty worn by the gas pedal, and I only had them in 2 months before winter.

I was worried that the inside is cardboard/paper of some sort, because that's how it felt.
