C32 Capri Blue
Question Dealer Satisfaction ???

How satisfied are you with your dealer/sales person?
I am not really happy with my dealer:
- limited knowledge about the car (C32 in this case)
- doesn't return phone calls quickly...
- and more...

I appreciate your comments!

thanks
Oliver

PS.: I will pick up my C32 next week (hopefully)

My Dealer in Houston TX didn't have a clue about car knowledge either.

Example - in the 02 C320, in the center console big storage bin, there's a big bulge (its a fan to help push air to the rear a/c vents)

salesman didn't have a clue why the bulge was there versus the 2001.

I mena come on - MB doesn't give a list of improvements for each year for each model??!!!

I had the opposite experience with my dealer here in Dallas (Plano). He was very knowledgeable about the car, and explained everything in detail. Even advised me about the "game" that they play when setting up teleaid (trying to extend out the call). He even explained the "bulge" in the middle console. I called him a few times after the initial test drive with some questions, and he called right back within minutes of me leaving a message. Overall, a great experience. Sorry to hear that not everyone had such service.

my salesman also didnt know dirt about the car, but thats ok, cause when i asked a question, he admitted to not knowing the answer, and then immediatly went and found it out.

product knowledge is like icing

the cake is whats important: honesty, courtesy, professionalism.

it would be all but impossible to find a salesperson that has as much knowledge about these cars as the collective "mbworld" hooligans have

you get a mixed bag. one dealer played games w/ me. another was great, etc.

i think you should be honest in your review. its funny that some provide you a filled out form or really beg you to give them all excellent marks. my salesguy asked that i call him before i give him anything other than an excellent (very good, as he explained, is a failure). now, my standards are pretty high (don't laugh ! so to give excellent is difficult but he wasn't bad. normally, i would have given him very good/excellent. that's sort of why i never filled it out and sent it in.

i don't know why they care so much or how it affects them except that it means a lot to them.

With other manufacturers the Survey determines ordering status and allocation. If the dealer scores high they receive more cars for the year. I know this to be a fact with the Big 3 but not sure about MB.

salesperson at Van Nuys CA

He flat out lied to me. When I asked and show a little interest about the K2a package. He immediately told me that the handset is not included in the price and I have to buy it seperately from the parts department for $400.

The salesperson I dealt with in Houston knew the c230 pretty well. My only complaint was that I had to wait in line for someone to buy an S600 before I was taken care of. That's business, I guess... Communication during the order process could be better.

I was happy that he didn't try to push options on me that I didn't want or need. On top of that, he told me upfront that I would be better off selling my trade outright or taking it to Carmax. While I would like a good deal on a trade, at least I can plan accordingly before the car arrives next month. Woohoo!

Two dealers in Phoenix area. One salesman was refering to a 1998 E300 turbo diesel (asking $39K but blue book $29K) and was telling me how it performed. I told him I test drove a 96 E300TD, he told me they didnt have the turbo back then and that the 98 had so much power it would burn rubber! The other dealerships salesman told me the aluminum trim in the C230 was carbon fiber, but at least he was a nice guy and didn't spend the whole time on a cell or bragging about his sales figures like the first guy.

My salesman at my Bethesda, Maryland dealership was great. Up front from the beginning and lots of MB knowledge. Ordered my car for me and changed an existing order so I got my car in 8 weeks. Helped me with questions after the sale and fixed my "blue" wheel on upper dash vents!

Conversely, a salesman at a Silver Spring MD. dealer knew squat about the C240. Told me it didn't have climate control, and that the leather parts of the seats were the bolsters, not the center "insert". The only salesperson who went with me on a test drive -- a pain.

We ended up taking my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee to Carmax for the trade in. They offered us about $1000 more than her dealer did.

Carmax is a used car "chain" that is owned by Circuit City, an electronics and appliance discounter. I'm not sure if they're mainly a local thing or national. Anyway, they did some research on what people look for when buying used cars and set up this business. They supposedly sell vehicles below book value average. They will also buy very clean vehicles outright. I took my '99 Passat there for an appraisal as a last resort in case I couldn't sell it, and they gave me a decent price. I did end up selling it privately for about $1600 more. It is felt that their offer to buy a car is somewhat higher than you'd get from trading at a dealer.

My salesman was very knowledgable. He let me take a 10 mile test drive by myself to really drive the car, then another 10 mile test drive with him so how could show me the features and "bells and whistle's". It was wonderful. I bought my car from Hendrick Mercedes. I will buy many more in the future from that same guy!
