i always thought of buying a mp3 cd box player or something like that , until 2 days ago i tried an mp3 in the car and it worked like a charm i can change folders and new buttons appear on the screen ,

Are you talking about mp3 discs or mp3 through AUX?

I'm assuming because you don't have comand. I use the aux mod and hook it up to my ipod.

Are you putting the disc in your head unit or in your disc changer? Its already known the changer can play MP3's.

If you have a CD changer the changer itself should be able to play MP3s in 2005+ - it just takes forever to load.

If you have a 2005 COMAND it will NOT play MP3s within the head unit itself. You need (I believe) an 06 or newer for that. I think the changed happened some time in the middle of 06. Or you can just get the 2008 G class COMAND w/ MP3 and rear view camera input.

i have original comand 2005 that came with the car , the head unit itself plays mp3, i'll get u today some pics to show it , even the cd changer plays mp3, and AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE AUX

Are you the original owner of the vehicle? That COMAND unit had to have been installed at a later date. It is not a 2005 COMAND unit. You can check your VIN number to find out which options were original from the factory.

Either that or someone somewhere knew how to update the software on that unit to have MP3 capability (something that is not possible AFAIK). If you press OK + 7 + MUTE with the right timing and hold all 3 you can find out what software version you have on the unit.

I don't have command and I cannot play mp3 on either the headunit or changer.....what's wrong with it?

1. Although it says differently in the manual, the non-command head unit does NOT play MP3 discs.

2. SOME CD-Changers will play MP3's, but you can only burn 99 files per CD.

3. Command units should play MP3 discs directly from the Command unit but acr2001 sounds like he has more info on this one.

Good catch Nick. The scum bag is full of crap, if you have a 2005 COMAND unit or regular head unit you cannot play MP3s unless you get a CD changer (and it must be an MP3 capable CD changer!)

bu the way , before burning the mp3 cd u should remove titles, artist name , genre and everything of each song ( by clicking right click on the mp3 ->properties -> summary -> delete everything in it like artist, genre , title ...etc)

another thing, in the second pic where appears 'cd changer' , 'mp3' , and 'radio' , usually instead of 'mp3' it appears 'cd' , but when i putted the mp3 cd it appeared 'mp3'

about the c63 engine , am in lebanon and not in usa , here everything is possible , here they are able to put a bmw engine in a golf , you just need a good mecanician that have some cracked programs (like star or something ) to program the ecu ( we call here the car's computer) to work alone with the engine
