C200K W203 Transmiission problems

Long sad saga with my C200K. Bought 2nd hand with 78K on the clock, all book services and no problems. In next yuear developed Intermittent problems with engine light coming on but service centre could not find fault, just kept resetting light. After 12 months light would come on and then after a few days car went into limp mode. This continued for 3 years with various intervals of "good" periods when engine light would come on and car would driver Ok for up to six months. Eventually found problem myself a few months ago when battery was flat and had to get battery mechanic out to replace. Apparently the original battery had developed a very slow leak, was leaking acid out onto the battery tray which eventually ate the tray, ate the two wiring looms under the tray and started to eat into the car body.

Had all this cleaned up, replace dlooms at over $5k cost. Then found out that MAF faulty (replaced) and cam sensor oil leak (replaced and added Mercedes fix - short loom) and all codes cancelled. Vehicle ran OK for about 2 weeks then, locked into gear along freeway, when stopped went into limp mode. Transported back to workshop to discover vaccum line broked, vaccum pump running red hot. Replaced and now new code showing gearbox solenoid faulty. Replaced solenoid but would not clear fault code.

Mechanic tersted all solenoids, all OK but neither old or new solenoid will clear fault code so still locked in limp mode.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted (have already thought of a gallon of gas and a lighter)
