The sensor on the hood is the climate control sun sensor. It's a 4 quadrant design, so it also measures the angle of sunlight. This sensor affects temperature regulation and blower speed. That's it.

For the remote entry, the SmartKey uses both a radio frequency signal and an infrared signal. The infrared receivers are located in the front door handles, those little squares. The radio frequency antenna is an integral part of the rear window.
