w211 vs w203 HU fit?
I know this is probably a stupid question but, will a command unit from an E Class (w211) fit in a like MY C-Class (w203)? I have an 05 C230 and the US E class Command looks just like the Euro C Class Command (except it has a Sat button). Can anyone offer any insight here? the specific modle I'm looking at is A 211 820 30 97. Again, I know that the answer here is most likely "no, you're an idiot", but it's certainly worth a shot asking, right?

There's never a stupid question; but there are stupid answers. Some people have sucessfully retrofitted a G HU, so lets see if anyone with more insight can help you out.

The older E class COMAND (by older I mean the one before... I believe 09 (the unit with the SD slot)) requires the nav drive be installed in the trunk, so I do not think it is doable, also I think the audio gateway is a separate unit in the E, meaning your sound wont work.
If you were to try retrofitting the NEWER 09 up E class COMAND unit you might have better luck as everything is built in, but there will definitely be some rewiring involved and other issues involved (assuming it physically fits). The best choice for retrofitting the LATEST COMAND unit would be getting your hands on the COMAND from the CLC - it should be a pretty good fit, cant say for sure through.
You can install a G class unit right up to the 08 model year G (NOT the GL, the G!) So far it has been working perfectly for me except that the time on the COMAND unit is set to central time by default and the menu to change it is grayed out. I believe this is because my gauge cluster isn't version coded. I'll find out if I ever find someone in NY who can code it (I refuse to go to the dealer at their prices).

I noticed the 2009 G comand has HDD and an SD slot and also do not have the 8 buttons on the sides of the screen. I assume this wont work on a w203 or it probably needs a dial control?
