Sunroof Problem

So, Im driving home from a long day at work and I let my sunroof back so I can get a breeze in while Im driving. I decided that I wanted to shut the sunroof after a short period of time. As it begins to shut the sunroof make a grinding noise. I stop it and opened it back up until I got home. Now it stuck. I can feel the gears trying to shut it but something is stoping it. I got it to seal but its still cracked in the back. Can anyone help me with ideas to fix it. My friend is a tech and he thinks he can fix it. So I guess my real question is does anyone know how to detach the sunroof or take off the interior panelling?

Oh yeah......its a 02 SportCoupe if that helps.
Thanks

well, that sounds like something that happened to me. After $1200 it was repaired. Don't try to operate it too much because you could burn the motors. There are some instructions here how to do that but then again, that is something really ugly to deal with. You probably are going to wind up buying the rails (track assembly). My SA told me that I was better off taking it to a professional sunroof shop

Sorry about that and good luck. I really feel your pain.

BTW, the stealership asked $2900 for the repair

Mine messed up too

When the tree killed my wife's 2002 E320, mine coupe got popped on the roof. Afterwards, the roof actuator was making a machine gun noise. Diagnosis is messed up cable (4 hours of labor to fix).

It's very dissapointing... most people just completely shuts completely the damn thing but such is life. Try to get it to a professional sunroof shop that deals with webasto.
