trans fluid

What type of trans fluid to use in a 02 c320 wagon? And where can I get a trans dipstick?

I paid ~$76 online for a tranny dipstick. I JUST saw them on EBay for ~$30, and the guy had like 10 of them.

That being said, I have no idea how to use it. It is waaaay long - so long it's definitely not meant to be left in the tube. It's about 4 feet long and has a red handle on it. If you find out how to use it, please post and let us know. Cheers!

The opposite end from the red handle should be black plastic with the markings |25*| near the tip and |80*| further up. Those are the max and min for transmission fluid when cold and hot. Cold is 1 to 2 mm from the tip and hot is 5.3 to 6.4 mm from the tip. Check fluid level with engine running and stick bottomed. Don't forget new trans fluid cap keeper.

Yup, I saw the markings on the 'stick' end. The problem lies in how far to put the dipstick in. It is so long there is no way to get it in all the way. So, you just put it in until it stops?

I tried putting it in as far as it would go. There was about a foot left hanging out of the tube. When I pulled it out there was tranny fluid on the stick (very clean) and looked full, just wasn't sure if I had stuck it in too far, making the reading invalid.

You want to drive the car and then check BTW.
Get it up to 80C.
You can guestimate the temp by looking on the dash readout.

If you wipe the dipstick and the stuff is green, flush it!
It's shot.
