luckily, the sigs on this board allow basic html tags. 
here's a page w/ the basic info on changing text format

for just color, replace the - w/ the lessthan and greaterthan
-font color=blue- bluetexthere -/font-
looks like this:
<font color=blue> bluetexthere </font>
if you do a view page source, you can see the tags also.
