SPLASH SHIELD
A friend of mine has a 2007 C230 SS and took it into the dealer to have some warranty work done on the sunroof. While there she mentioned that she would occasionally hear what sounded like a rubbing noise when she turned the wheel sharply to the right. The service advisor looked at the car and said that she needed a new splash shield. He said he would put the one she had back into place, but that it would need to be replaced. He also told her it wasn't covered under warranty and would cost $195.
I am out of town and haven't seen the car, but I assume she is talking about the inner liner of the wheel well. My question is why wouldn't this be covered under the factory warranty?
PS: Tried searching fourm for this topic and came up with a lot of stuff about xenon lights, so apologize in advance if this has been covered somewhere already.

if she bought wider tires from stock then, there probably blaming the wider tire for rubbing against the splash guard.
anyways, unless there's a huge gapping hole, the car should be fine with the damaged splash guard.

I asked her to check on the tire size to make sure they're correct and am waiting to her from her. She bought the car used . . . it was a previous Enterprise RAC with less than 10,000 miles, so suspect that the tires were never changed from the factory ones.
Thanks for replying TemjinX2 . . . I think the car will be fine now that the advisor put it back into place.

I just bought new splash guards because i damaged my left one when lowering because I lost some pieces so it was held as tightly and a little loose so my tire rubbed a hole into it haha
But i just picked up an AMG bumper off SUNLIP and I was wondering if I could use the same splash guards from my car (2003 C230 Kompressor) or do I need new splash guards to fit the AMG bumper?

Oh my god, a C230 rental car from Enterprise? That's scary.
My car had damage to the inner fender lining and the dealer here said $180 to replace, so that's close and probably what her problem was. Mine happened after a run-in with a dog broke some clips and my tire rubbed a hole in it. I wired it up until I could get it into the body shop and it was fine for months that way. It's no emergency.
