Oil in M271 wide band silencer
I replaced my serpentine belt this afternoon (60,000 miles) - when I removed the wide band silencer (the big air box behind the radiators running from the intercooler back to the engine), I noticed oil inside it. Not a lot, but it was more than just wet. It doesn't seem to be causing a problem (car runs great, just passed emissions), but why would there be any oil in there at all - I use only OEM air filters (no K&N or oiled filters). I did add one quart of oil after about 9,000 miles -- I didn't worry about it until now. I just changed the oil (3,000 miles from adding the quart), and a full 5.8 qts came out.
Where is the oil coming from? Is this a potential issue?
