Question W203 facelift, what will change?

Anyone have input to what may change with the facelift? Will the headlights/rear lights stay the same (I like 'em)? Also does this affect the sedan as well as the coupe?

I'm waiting for tax $$ and then I'm getting the 230K sedan. If there is going to be a change though I may wait to see what it looks like.

I don't think you will find anyone here that really know what changes are coming or when. You will hear tons of speculation

My theory is that it will look the same, have a 1.3L motor but close in HP to the current 1.8L motor and have a few less knobs in the car or charge extra for them as part of an enhancement package. Also not only will bi-xenon headlighs be an option but so will bi-xenon tail/brake lights for the complete look.

i'd find it hard that the headlights will change especially with the bi-xenons. if anything the projector lens will be on all models for halogen and xenon cars like the E and ML's. maybe the turn signals in the rear the S or CL? im just guessing, from watching face lifts in the past couple models years.

It kills me that after only 3 model years they would need to change it at all, but if they do...

I see a more radical rake in the angle of the taillight "cut" (from the side view) down the quarter panel (more like the SL).

I also see the upgraded headlights as standard perhaps.

Maybe a rocker panel change (more like the current Sport package) standard.

Probably a lower front air damn change as well as rear apron.

They wont need to do much, as it is stunning as is IMO.

My guess is that the face lift will involve changes to only the plastic parts of the body - the sheetmetal will probably stay the same. I think that there will be a different looking front bumper cover (think of the differences between the standard and AMG fog light positioning, etc.), a slightly different look to the grill, and maybe a different sculpt to the rear bumper cover. Plus some new color options. Interior changes: different pattern on the cloth seats in the coupe, maybe the stitching on the leather seats will be a contrasting color.

I bet that most non-Mercedes types won't even notice the difference.

Cheers, BT

Edit: M-B-Michael and I were thinking along the same lines - he just beat me by a minute. His tail light comment made me think - I'll bet the plastic of the tail light covers changes to look more like the E and CLK (adding that white triangle-ish shaped portion within the red).

Oh, I see. For some reason I thought you were talking about the way you can see the turn signal lights on the mirrors from the rear better on the S. Maybe because I just noticed this yesterday.

I know I wont' get the free car washes, cookies and soda and I won't get the regular supply of loaner cars but I'm heading back to where it's safe, the 40th anniversary Mustang convertible if it doesn't mutate into something bizzare between now and then.

I like the tailights, but the wiper blade has to go. The pic looks like an earlier prototype, maybe before they realized they needed the rear-facing window for visibility.

As for changes, the "rounded butt" that is appearing on the SL and CLK should start making its way into the other models, and I see the front end of the coupe becoming standard across the entire C-class, with the agressive sloped grill and 3-point star grill.

The biggest change for us in NA will be the return of deisel engines.

They won't put the star on the grill on any of the sedans. That is something that they do only on coupes. (Well, anything with 2 doors, they're not all coupes.)

i want a diesel coupe!!! i would even consider buying one if they brought them over. god forbid we start conserving fuel or anything by importing more economical engines.

At your price for gasoline of USD 0.78 per US gallon, probably not very much. You may be wondering why anyone who can afford an MB would care about the cost of driving it. However, the fuel price in most of the world is several times yours, which makes fuel economy more of an issue to consider. Also, some people like the increased torque and longer engine life of a diesel.

.78 cents! Where? Even diesel is over $1.50 gal here in the US.

These are the computer generated "spy photos" that were published of the C-Coupe before it was released. Notice that it has W202-esque side-view mirrors with no turn signals.

The funny thing is that the rear lights have the clear portions that I think will probably be part of the face-lift.
