designo trim parts made of stone

The Geneva Motor Show in 2001 heralded the arrival of a much-awaited premiere: Mercedes-Benz was the world's first automobile manufacturer to introduce designo trim parts made of real stone. The door trim strips, centre console, steering wheel rim and selector lever are now available in shimmering, sumptuous Labrador blue pearl granite. The stone comes from Norway and, due to its remarkable hardness, has to be cut with diamonds or a high-pressure water jet. It took the DaimlerChrysler development engineers two years of research to shape the extremely thinly cut layers of stone in such a way that they can be draped around corners with millimetric precision. This top-quality feature is optionally available exclusively for the CL 500, CL 55 AMG and CL 600 luxury Coupés. Other stones in addition to granite are likely to follow

That model should also come with the panorama floorboard to complete the Flintmobile effect.

From your first post, it seems like they're just thin "veneers" of stone (not heavy). But certainly taking car interiors a new direction. I like that steering wheel. Now, can you get kitchen counters to match?
