MAF sensor : Fragile?
Feedbacks, please
PS: just not to be ignorant , i did use the search , and nothing related came up to my question, nothing even close. all i seen was MAFs failure , and i am not asking for that.

You'll do what the rest of us do and read threads.
Your friend's older e430 MAF issues are most likely caused by the MAF being contaminated by oil from "high flow" oiled filters. This has been very well documented so I will leave you research to that.
As for building an intake that gets air from the battery compartment: I'm pretty sure no one has done this because the stock air box is already being fed massive amounts of cold air from outside the engine bay. I doubt you will get more air from the battery compartment. If you are intending to build your own air intake, do not use oiled filters. Save yourself the hassle and a few MAFs - I learned the hard way when I first got my car.
There is information here for intakes, but ya just gotta look for it and also remember that the m272 has not been around that long in the w203 and that the overall design/shape of the m272 engine compartment is exactly the same as that of the m112. Meaning all of the work people have done on the m112 would almost directly apply to the m272.
The most successful m112 intakes have been built on the xf/slk forums by needswings and tvt. They run ONE long pipe along the passenger side head to the front of the radiator and house a large cone filter there. This does not directly apply to the w203, but those guys have def spent their time on dynos figuring out what type of intake would be the best for the m112. I believe they have found single induction to be better than double.
Additionally, the renntech box has been proven to make power and differences between the two air boxes (renntech vs stock) is that the renntech box is taller in the rear (near the AMF), its made of CF, and also probably has a lot of the obstructions w/in the airbox removed.

Even Renntech couldnt get a lot of HP. What is it if I recall correctly isn't their gains 4-8 HP (8 hp max for sure) and that's on a bigger engine. On our m272 i doubt you will get any gains.
I honestly think the m272 has a real good design (intake). I wouldn't touch it. Only for cosmetics.
Give it a shot, see how it goes.
Next time be nice guys. Me, I get angry quick but in the end everyone here is cool. So if even in the future I blow up on you guys, don't mind me it's all good in the neighborhood.
Here it kind of goes with seniority. And seniority doesn't go with post counts.
Even though I have more posts than LILBENZ he knows more than me (he proved this when I posted a wrong answer about ventilated disks - remember lilbenz?). So I have to shut my mouth and move on when he get's mad at me. In this situation the OP shouldn't have retaliated. A nice reply like ("I tried searching and wasn't able to find info can you direct me?") now that would have saved a lot of time and headache.
That's just some of the unwritten rules of this sacred forum.
OP - If you think he was being rude try joining a Hacking Forum and post a question there.

Bottom line respect one another but most importantly respect the seniors.

I was not rude in my first post here. I simply stated the obvious. If he weren't such a n00b, he'd know that my "adventures" thread was not created by me - it was created by the mods as they do for others by merging a series of threads I had started over a period of time together.
I've learned a lot from this forum, but not from insulting people who have ownership experience and vast knowledge of the W203.
Your M272’s is likely a relatively stout piece.
Recently helped another member clean his solely as a preventative measure. No DTCs before or after.
Incidentally, the AMG ‘55 had been inhaling past a pair of oiled gauze filters for more than a year.
