Please.....Somebody know the answer

Hello everybody. I need to know if when I remove the factory head unit from my 2003 C320 with bose fiber optic will I lose the information display in the dash. Also do I lose all steering wheel controls or just audio functions. I realise I will lose all audio information but do I lose the rest of the info displayed? I am removing the headunit, changer and amp and replacing all. My bose speakers sound bad and for the price the dealership wants I can do it all for the same price. I have been doing car audio for 18 years but never had to deal with this.
I thank you for your help and if I'm in the wrong section I apologize and please redirect me.

Thanks, I read that but thats not what I am after. I dont care if my volume buttons work and know that they wont. Will my information display in my cluster still display info other than the radio. I know the radio information will be gone but will the rest remain or will it be "dead" or blank. The steering wheel buttons are what change my information display, will they still work or is the whole system going to just be gone when the radio is removed?

Oh no you will still be able to control the MFD. I have a custom system and the only thing I lost was the radio functions on the steering wheel but I dont really care about that right now.

Thats what I needed to know.....THANKS!!!!! Now if you happen to know the wire colors or if there is any harness available for the power and ground connections. Im pretty sure the amp isbehind the seat on the passenger side and I am going to try and use the output side of the amp for my speaker connections. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

BigBodyBenz - I see you have a C240, do you have the Bose option? Bose and the standard Audio10 system (or is it Audio20?) are very different animals. I'm sure that it won't affect the MFD as far as the variety of other information it has available. But I've always heard you cannot combine aftermarket parts with Bose speakers. Or are you intending to replace everything?

that should've hinted to you that would be the only function you would loose already.

Yes I have the Bose option. I took my car to an award winning audio shop to so mine. The guy has done multiple Mercedes before and did mine too. Im not going to lie I thought it couldnt be done without re doing all the speakers and rewiring the entire car because thats what another independent shop said due to the fiber optics but it can be done because mine is. I have a flip out tv in the dash and I plan to upgrade it to a double din, possibly Alpine, so I can regain the volume controls on the steering wheel. Another project a ways down the road though since I am currently working on other upgrades at the moment.

I will tell you this.. After messing with my bose system i dunno if its the tap connection i did to the subwoofer... but at times on its own the car audio will turn up the volume to max while im sitting at a stop light waiting. It only does it sometimes but its very annoying.. Im pretty sure its because of my new woofer. Just be safe when taking apart everything.. clips will snap off

And btw i thought the C240 don't have bose.. my friends car at my old work didn't.. Thats why he didn't need to re wire the whole car.. I was told that i have to re wire everything please make sure.. if i don't have to i wanna upgrade ASAP to a nice flip screen
