TouchShift vs. SpeedShift

In reviewing MB literature, the CSedans with automatics have TouchShift, whereas the AMGSedans have SpeedShift.

The difference appears to be:
- SpeedShift automatically downshifts under hard braking
- 35% faster shifts

It seems that these differences might be only in the programming of the transmission? Does anyone know if this correct?

Does anyone know of a tuner working on a transmission control program for the C?

It would really be nice to have the car in the correct gear to exit a corner, rather than the "one mississipi, two mississipi, WHAM" of the TouchShift with the C230. (this probably isn't an issue with the C320, as the higher torque could mask the fact that you're a gear or two too high).

Anybody?

You are correct, it's primarily a software difference (although the newer AMG transmissions do incorporate a lighter torque converter). I haven't heard of any tuners working on such a thing, probably too difficult and not enough interest to recoup costs.
