Aftermarket HID Problem

Aftermarket HID Problem
I've done so much searching on this forum (and a few other MB forums) trying to find a solution to my particular HID flicker problem. I was hoping someone could assist me. I've spend hours and hours trying out different combinations of solutions to no avail.
I have a 2001 Mercedes C240. The HID kit I purchased simply installs by connecting up to the headlight connector (supposed to be plug-n-play). It then runs to the ballast and from there to the HID bulb. I am able to successfully use the system IF I turn the HIDs on first, wait about 5 seconds, then start the car. The lights will run fine after that. It's as though the HID system needs to fully power-up before turning the car on. I did add a 2200uF 50WVDC Capacitor inline where the HID system connects to the orig headlight connector in order for the system to work at all. If I start the car first, then try to turn the lights on, they will blink about once every 10 seconds and I receive a bulb out warning on the dash.
Again, I installed a 2200uF 50WVDC Capacitor (I also tried a 35WVDC) inline at the orig headlight connectors (one at each headlight) and it at least allows me to use the system as long as I turn the lights on first, then start the car.
Any suggestions?
Thank you very much for your time,
Phil
