they say it's totaled...
Its any car these days. Once the airbags pop, they do so much damage its hard to justify the cost. Nothing has any resale anymore.
Get the CLK....once you've had a coupe you won't want two extra useless doors, right?
I considered the CLK55 a few months back, buddy of mine found one at auction, great price- but with the current economy, I thought...maybe not. If you get another coupe, either get a loaded 2002, or go for a V6 2005- the 1.8 will leave you wanting for more oomph.
get a 198+ 560SEC!!! you'll love the power! thats the next one im getting! lmao!

$12,400.00 Actual Cash Value
$775.00+ 6.25 Sales Tax
$300.00- Deductible
=$12,875.00 Net Settlement
(I had paid $16K for it 4 years before!) So, I took the loot and bought the 2006 CLK350 for $20,800 or so, knowing that my insurance would go up, both because of the newer, better model and the surcharge for rear-ending someone. On top of those things, insurance rates have gone up (again) here in Mass. The result? While I used to pay $930 to insure the C230 (which reflected a $139 safe driver discount), it went up to $1221 for the CLK, but that's BEFORE the surcharge and rate increase hit. The new bill is for $2207, which includes the $726 surcharge! (plus they raised my deductible to $500 from $300) I don't know how many years I get whacked with that, but I hope not enough to give back that $12,875 settlement!
I guess I'm lucky in at least one respect: I also replaced the wife's 2003 C320 with a 2007 E350, and her premium only went up $245, and only $123 of that was for the car upgrade! For some reason that makes no sense to me, the 2006 CLK350 costs more to insure than the 2007 E350, and that's independent of the surcharge! They actually surcharge the more expensive car and apply her safe driver discount to the less expensive. So her premium is $1400 less $195 safe driver discount for $1205 and mine is $1481 plus $726 surcharge for $2207. Ouch!!
