Indeed very important. Do you see where I live? Where I live Atheist = devil worshipper.

When you throw gay into that.. wow. Gaytheist. That's how I refer to myself at times. I support the HRC, but bless their hearts, even I don't like most gay people, either. You should have seen the looks my Benz caught sporting its "HRC vote Obama" sticker from some of the gun-rack camo trucks here. Yikes.

It's alright, you got HID so you don't need that feature anyway. I mean I don't even use this. I just leave it on auto, plus on auto when I lock my doors or unlock I get the high beam light on with the fogs

High beam or city lights with fogs?

I get city lights, fogs, markers, tails - when unlocked at night with lights set to "auto". It seems Mercedes just arbitrarily programs the cars to operate in different ways. LOL

I get the same lights on as you when unlocking at night. I'm guessing he modified things, either that or they changed it in 06.

What's funny is were all here trying to figure out a problem (long problem since it has been argued many times) and all we had to do is look in the manual.

P.S I think my rears do light up as well. I don't remember.

Okay okay. The thread is out of control. Let me say this:

I am pleased with my car and its lighting. The fogs are useless, but they look cool. The reflector housings do a helluva job managing my 55w HIDs and have held onto the factory pattern - the light output shames my 135i's factory HID. The surround lighting works at night when I'm away from home and not in my garage. The "DRL" feature is poorly executed, working or busted - the 135i has awesome DRL in the form of its angel eyes "corona rings". Each year of the W203 seems to have some minor changes.

Report back because my car runs all exterior lights regardless of ambient light. But my lights set in "auto" work as intended, so it's not the light sensor that is on the fritz. The feature simply doesn't work as designed for me.

are you trying to get shot? i would never put a obama sticker on my car in the south. btw i would never put a sticker on my car for two reasons. one it is a benz and don't want to screw anything up. second i don't want to find out what people would do to my car if they didn't agree with me.

another thing with ga and al is that the kkk is pretty active. i have a friend at UA and he goes mud riddin' in a remote forest. He has not shown me where but there are noose all over the forest and the cops he has run into say that it is not safe to be out their. don't think they would like to see your obama sticker.

If it is then atleast we know Matt's lights don't have a malfunction. If it doesn't it's all good cause you don't use them anyway Matt.

I agree...05 and 06 have the Auxiliary cable (clip) and some 07s do as well but some don't

So I think there are some minor changes and I think it's the build date that counts.

Hate crime? That's a hate crime? That's an insult to everyone who has ever been a victim to a real hate crime.

For a while it wore a "Go Hillary" sticker. Then "Vote Obama". I am extremely reluctant to put stickers on any of my vehicles but that was of high importance to me.

I don't (and wholeheartedly refuse to) live in fear.

I'm confused so your an atheist and Gay or were you just making a point? And what would you be living in fear of? this isn't the 1900's, people haven't been hung for believing in something for a very long time...not to say hate crimes still dont' exist, just think they run about as often as any other crime out there. And why is this thread turning into a religion/gay/human rights/political debate? lets keep it on topic. Truth is noone should care if your an atheist, gay, or how you vote and you shouldn't express such info in the normal thread section. Thats why there is an off-topic section.

So back to the topic of this thread, MY DRL also runs all my exterior lights as well, not just my low beams and I do have HID's as well and don't want to run them all the time. Truth is if someone is dumb enough to hit you in the day time, having your headlights on really aint gonna make them suddenly realize that you are there...if it is maybe they shouldnt be driving in the first place you know?!

i ended up looking in the settings under lighting, and sure enough, i was able to turn them off. i checked my tailights before i turned them off, and they were not on at the time. thanks a lot guys. my mom had this car for about 7 years before she upgraded so i don't know what happened to the manual during that time period, but it's no longer in the car. i think i'm going to order one off of ebay soon though, because it could probably save me some trouble. well thanks again. i really appreciate it.

In Canada where DRLs are required, the Lighting setting described above is missing from the Settings menu. The DRLs are set permanently on using the country code 'Canada' in the DAS, and they run the low beams at reduced power and the taillights.

Exactly. Only in countries where DRLs are not required by law, does the lighting menu give you the option to turn DRL's on/off.

my buddies with E92 335 or M3s with the DRL turned on they also have the tail lights on at all time. except bmw's DRL are the angel eyes up front. I'm pretty positive your 135i is set the same if the DRL is on.

I've never messed with the 135i's settings. Delivered to me it runs the angel eyes at all times without the rest of the exterior lights. I'm satisfied with that.

Just to attempt to clarify one more time (and I have double checked this)...

With headlights set to constant, my car constantly runs low level (seem to be below even low beams) lights without the city lights or tails. I can then turn my dial to the city lights setting, which turns off the "DRLs" and turns on the city lights and tails.

At night, all my lights are on (like normal), but I can once again turn my dial to city lights, which turns off the headlights.

On a different note, my car is currently malfunctioning. I have no ability to turn on my fog lights (front or back). I also cannot turn on just my city lights. But I CAN (in the day with DRLS on) turn the dial to ON and the lights get brighter and the rest come on.

Red face headlights wont cut off with switch

I never switched my headlights to constant they are on manually and they all of sudden for the past 3 months cut on by themselves when the car is started and I was also having a bad battery draw problem and Yesterday I unplugged my seat module and 3 hours later I crank the car and it cranked up right away with no hesitation and the headlights didnt come on,so basically im saying a bad seat module could trigger your headlights to stay on because I could turn the lights on and off now with the switch, now it has been 21hrs and my battery wasnt dead and the lights work with the switch

Hello. I'm bringing this up because I'm having the same problem. It started long ago, it's been a couple of years now: headlights will turn on after 1 minute or so of having the ignition switch on, regardless of the light control switch position. If I turn the ignition switch off, I can operate the headlights normally.

It never bothered me much though, and it still doesn´t. I walked through all the menus, tried every different configuration, to no avail. At the same time, the right side mirror can be electrically regulated in all directions but down.

Given these two symptoms, I replaced the light switch but the problem persisted. It came to mind that I may have a problem in the front SAM module. Will address it whenever I have some free time, but I don't see any other way to test it, except with a new/used SAM.

Has anyone had a similar problem, besides the OP?

Thanks.

OK, sounded silly to me but worked!!!! Check the water is running away from your windscreen (via vent under wipers) mine was blocked, headlights constantly on (regardless of where switch was), cleaned it out, checked water running away and yey!!! Headlights back to normal - no idea how or why this worked, just did.

PS - not so new, just couldn't remember my old login details!!!!
