No chance beeing unique...
In the latest number of Auto Motor & Sport (swedish edition), I found a list of most sold cars in Germany 2001. Guess what model came in second place? The new C-class! Only beaten by VW Golf/Bora. 148286 C-classes were sold. Guess I won't feel very exceptional when I travel through Germany later this year... Fortunately only about 1500 C's were sold in Sweden, so I am still a little "exclusive" around here in Volvo-land....

The German Federal Motor Transport Authority says the Mercedes-Benz C-Class family of vehicles led its category of vehicles in new registrations in Germany last year for the first time ever. With a total of 156,900 registrations in Germany in 2001, the C-Class was ahead of its key competitors. BMW's 3 Series took second place with 147,300 new registrations, followed by the VW Passat with 139,200. The vehicle embarked on the road to success in March 2000 when the new C-Class sedan celebrated its world premiere. A total of 429,100 units have been sold worldwide since market launch in May 2000. Last year, Mercedes-Benz sold some 281,200 new C-Class sedans worldwide, as well as more than 52,500 new C-Class station wagons and nearly 59,300 sports coupes.

I actually had an interesting conversation with my sales rep about the world MB car market and he mentioned that MB plans to move 14,000 of the c230K 2002s.
