What harm could it do? Considering it's pretty common to drive convertibles with the top down and the AC on, I'm guessing having the windows open isn't going to hurt anything...

That is actually the preferred method because it now equalizes the pressure in the cabin. Also make sure you include the sunroof.

When I had my convertible I used A/C with the top down, windows open looking cool, feeling cool! I want a convertible!!!!

The only thing to be concerned about it the wasted energy, as the chilled air is escaping from the cabin at a far higher rate than it would if windows/roof were closed.

This will make your fuel economy worsen appreciably. But then you're probably paying 2 cents per litre for fuel, so why worry about 1 L/100 km?

Hmmm. I'm not sure our compressors are the cycling type -- are you assuming mileage will suffer because you feel the compressor will run more if more cold air is required?
