20mm wheel spacers install
im not very car savvy when it comes to the underpinnings of an automobile. my 20mm H&R wheel spacers came in and its time for me to install them. i was offered a "deal" of $60 to install them from the place where i bought the spacers. how hard is it to install these on my own. if im given instructions i can do it myself. i did install my audio10 on my own. i have the 20mm spacers and the new lugs. are there any other tools i need? thank you!

if you can change a wheel, you can add the spacers.
jack up the car.
remove a wheel.
insert spacer over hub.
put the wheel back on.
torque the lug nuts.
after about 100 miles, re-torque the nuts.

btw, since 20 mm is pretty wide, make sure your torque them.

yes, i know it is a bmw during a race, but same concept applies to a lesser extent.

Speaking torquing, what is a good torque wrench?
And who sells them?
And who sells them?

These have held up well for me and haven't lost calibration yet. I think these are pretty good

Thanks! Actually I just looked at your site and the tools right after posting my question. So should I get the larger one? How much should I torque the C7 wheels?

OMG
$60? what a deal!!! :p
it took my about 15mins to do mine- just using the stock jack.
it is a little easier to put the spacer on the wheel first (it will stay on by itself) and put a couple of the bolts through the wheel and spacer before you put the wheel back on to help guide it onto the hub.
if you put the spacer on the hub first, sometimes it rotates slightly and you the alignment to the hub holes can get thrown off.

Anyone got a closeup pic of a spacer? I have a machine shop and bunch of 6061-T6 plate and I want to machine my own 10-15mm spacers. I'm assuming it's just a hub-centric spacer that has a boss to fit inside the center wheel hole and clearance holes for the lug bolts. Right?

C7 wheels should be torqued to 80 foot pounds (110nm)

Where do you buy a torque wrench? I'm thinking about getting one myself. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Btw, is it ok to change wheels a few times a year? Will doing that often ruin the threads? I'm thinking about getting bigger wheels, but swap them out for the original ones on long trips.

Changing wheels is fine. The people in snow country do it every winter.
