Lightbulb Nice options....for C-Class

I think… MBUSA should put Parktronic System and Keyless Go on their C-Class.
It would be nice and a lot of people pay for that options.

I pay for those options.

Keyless Go: lets you lock and unlock your vehicle, and start and stop the engine, without using a key. By carrying a card-sized transponder that identifies you, you can unlock the door simply by touching the handle and start your Car engine at the touch of a button.

If the car unlocks by you touching the handle, does that mean that it's using your body as an antenna to pass a signal through?

I don't think automatically starting your car, if you have a manual transmission, is a very wise idea. Especially if you're in the habit of leaving it in gear when you park. Plus the manuals have a clutch-starter interlock, so you'd have to press the clutch down, or override the clutch switch.

No... You actually hit a small button on the door handle....

That is one of the reasons why Keyless-Go has only been an option for Automatic Trans S/CL models to date.

Parktronic is available in Europe on the C class. (Ie its MBUSA's decision not to import/make-it-available) (German price 650euros + local taxes = ~$550 + tax)

Keyless go opens the doors when you hold the drivers door (I think theres a little button) , to start the car you press the S (start) button on top of the gear knob.

Keyless go seems to only be available on S/CL and new SL

I guess the keyless go is using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. It means, the car itself has a RF reader and if you press the door key, the RD reader will be activated. The distance that the RF reader can sense or read will be very short like within 6 inches ( I guess, the distance can be adjusted but then the reader will be sending out a strong RF that I'll be a bit concern like the Cellular phone issue). Therefore, once you press the door buttom and within the read range, then the door will be open if the ID is a match.

Its only my guess on how this keyless go work. If anyone have more info, please post it. Thanks !!

Maybe it's me, but I really don't see the great advantage of that over the buttons on the keyfob.

Are people really that lazy?

Of course, I'll always have a manny, unless I lose my leg in a freak hunting accident, so I could care less about making auto owners happier.

With only my car key, my wife's car key, and the house key on my key ring, it's still pretty big and bulky. It really makes an unsightly "buldge" in my jeans pocket. If I could trade in the MB key for a credit card like device that I could carry in my wallet, that would be an advantage to me.

I would buy the keyless go option. But talking about not liking keys, all the locks to our house are numeric touchpads. No need to ever bother with keys just put in a 5 digit code a wham the door locks/unlocks. So yes Merceds if you read this make the Keyless go an option on all New MB's

not about lazy

Its about technology and I for one, am all for it. These guys engineer these cars like no other manufacturer and I like the fact that they stay ahead of the curve. Give me Keyless Go and I'll take it at a heartbeat.
