Picking up a C230K

I already put my down payment down and will be picking up an 05 C230K 6sp sedan on Thursday. I'm excited to get to work on modifications. First up will be debadging the trunk lid, leaving only the star.

Not too many. I just need to stop putting money into the Cobra.

Mind me asking how much? Since I own one, I'm curious what the market price is for these nowadays. If you don't want to say, no problem.

Was listed at $18,500 with 39k mi. Had a couple visual blemishes that the dealer took care of. They have a body shop. Rear sunshade was broken, so they offered to either fix or they would deduct $1000. I had them leave it. They did brakes and any other lingering small things that it needed no charge. I walk away with it for $15,000. Thought it was a pretty good deal.

My Mom has an 04 C240 and I never use the sunshade on hers, so I doubt I'd use it on mine. It is stuck in the up position and makes no noise when you push the button. I'll play with it as soon as I get it home.

Having it stuck in the up position blows. It would be much better stuck in the down position.

You mean during the night? The sunshade being up at night affects how the autodimming mirrors work in my car - as in - they basically don't. It also says that in the manual.

Edit:

Here is my 2005 C230. Has roughly 64,000 miles now and runs/looks as good as new. Only mod is 55w HID. I hope you love your's half as much as I adore mine!

Matt, your home is GORGEOUS!!! Something interesting, your fogs look to be the same color as your parking lights exactly. My fogs are whiter than my parking lights, basically the same color as my headlights. And, thanks to my warranty, I can now use them!

OP: Welcome. Can't wait to see the car!

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I didn't mean to steal attention from the OP. There are times I wish that my C230 was the 6MT. Oh well, got the 135i for that. Drew, it may just be the camera. My fogs and city lights are stock.

OP: Thanks for the comment on the signature. Few people have said anything, but all reaction has been positive. My views are not common where I live..

As a note on the rear sunshade... Since I got my car in July of last year with 25,000 miles.. if the car is outside and its really hot/humid I have to wait till the A/C runs for a few minutes and cools things down before my rear sunshade will work. It has something to do with the button, not the actual sunshade motor or unit. So perhaps this car has a similar problem? Once you get it, keep trying it and you might can eventually get it to retract.

Search the forum for "pigtails" once you pick this car up. Invest the $40 or so and install them immediately. Pictures and instructions are on the forum and if I can do it, you surely can.. it's easy. These are adapter wires that prevent oil from leaking out of the cam sensors on the front of the engine and down into the wiring harness. This is a common and expensive issue on the M271 S/C I4, but those little wires will prevent it.

Yes, the sunshade... My old CLK had problems with that. Its switch had an up/down option like a window. Sometimes it did not like to go up. It would always come down though. Good luck. Try just playing with it. I could jiggle the switch and it would go up. It might have a dead spot in the motor or something. As with many things with these cars, one day you'll press the button, for no reason, and it will just randomly work. I've had that happen a couple of times with different things.

I finally brought it home today. I have to tighten up the E-brake and the CEL came on already...ugh. I also still have yet to play with the rear sunshade.

The CEL came on already? That tells me that they cleared the code just before you took it. Dirty dealer.
