Maximum size spacers
Well i am running a non staggered setup : 18x8... & i think, as most of you will agree, spacers are a must... however before ordering i was wondering whats the maximum size spacers i can buy... (i am probably ordering from ebay.de since i am in europe now)...
check below pictures : https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen..._16.07-01-.jpg https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen..._16.10-01-.jpg https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen..._16.11-01-.jpg https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...8-09_16.12.jpg thanks.. |
i'm running 15mm and 12mm hubcentric spacers without any problems. But there on 19 x 8.5 wheel.

What are the offset of the wheels? I'm not sure if coupe's offset is the same as sedan's W203, but i think the maximum offset for unmodified fenders (for sedan) should be +30, this should count for normal W203 as well as AMG.
i think running 30mm spacer would not be safe, you would have to use extra long bolts as well. Normally 15mm would be sufficient and most producers would only recommend that width at the max. I myself have used 20mm (hubcentric) at the front and rear. While driving on highways (hi speed), there were no problem with shuddering at all, but it affected the handling so much that it made the car understeer a lot. I would recommend staying below 20mm. At the moment i am using 8mm spacer at the back to have the rear wheel sits flush to the fender, currently the effective ET is +29 (normal ET is +37). Like below... http://i332.photobucket.com/albums/m...0ME/SNEAK2.jpg |
the offset of my wheels is 35mm...
15mm spacers will push the wheels 15mm on each side ? on 15mm in total ? maybe you understeered because of your 20mm FRONT spacers ? |

there is no right or wrong answer for spacers. anything larger than 15mm spacer they are designed to bolt onto the hub first and then use the lug nuts instead of the lug bolts.
as for how thick do you want to use. that's up to how you want it to look. 15mm for your rear would be decent. |

i found h&r 10mm spacers but it says that they are not hubcentric.. is that ok ?

do not buy non hubcentric spacers unless you like having wheel vibrations when you drive.

The 20s I had were for my stock 17's - haven't had spacers on my summer rims yet - they are 18x8 like yours, so I'm interested in your results. But I'd guess that 12-15 would probably be best. |

Hmm - my 20 mm H&Rs did not do as you indicated, and I never had a problem with them.

OK, good luck. Looking forward to seeing what you end up with.

15mm spacers will push the wheels outwards (on each side), therefore your effective ET is +20. On W203 sedan, that kind of offset will push the wheels to sit out from the standard fenders.
