Valentine1 Mount
Are you hard wiring it or using the cig lighter via an adaptor?
Also, how do the suction cups hold up over time?
It is mounted as high as I could on the front windshield (duh) to the right of the mirror. I am then running a remote display that is mounted in the lower left hand side of the windshield. In that position you cannot see the LEDs from outside of the car at any angle (a pillar is in the way) but it is visible from my peripheral view. When running the remote, the lights on the main unit go off as well... nice stealth and the unit is high mounted.
Power is from the #7 fuse in the trunk area. I ran the juice all the way up - it is switched and doesn't have any other load on it.

I haven't purchased a V1 yet.
The reason I asked about where to mount is that, in my '01 sedan if I mount it high on the right, detection toward the rear seems to be blocked by the pass side headrest. Also, it looks like using the passenger side visor might be a problem.
I've got a coupe on order and was thinking about hardwiring harnesses in both so I could use the dectector in either car. In this scenario, the suction cups would be stuck/unstuck fairly often.
OTO, I guess I could spring for 2 V1s.
I slipped the clip in where the visor snaps into its retainer, and I use a spacer between the visor and the clip to keep the valentine level so the line of sight clears the top of the rear window as well. I don't want to get 'hit' from behind by a bogey.
I got the remote display and stuck it between the fuel gauge and speedo on the bottom ledge using velcro, leaving enough space to the right to watch the fuel level drop to empty; that leaves the max. speed covered but I hardly ever make it up to, what, 140 mph? stateside.
I used the included hardwiring kit piggybacking the cig lighter hot wire, and 2-pair phone cable with RJ11 heads crimped to the ends for the interconnect cables. Does the job nicely, looks clean, no problems.
I should post pics, lazy ******* that I am... maybe someone can shoot them at the next NE GTG and post them. Nah, just kidding, I'll get to it one of these days.
Someone pointed out to use a credit card to 'caulk' the wire in behind the panels (A-pillar etc); that's the way to go, you don't want to be pulling on these! The bulk phone wire has a nice flat profile lending itself nicely to be tucked in.
You need to keep in mind that at 1000 feet that laser beam is about a yard in diameter. Also keep in mind, that cops aim for the front plate - if that's not there then the headlights.
I've also had my windshield targeted - V1 went off but the blinder was silent. Fortunately this was close range (~50 feet) and the traffic was slow.
