piaa bulbs

hmm...i just installed PIAA's latest headlight bulbs on my other car...FYI its Piaa Plasma Spark Blue, its d latest, and d top of the line bulb at the moment in Japan, producing 7500k, with a consumption of 55W and an output of 100w.

now, the question is, though it produces d same light as an HID, its not really as bright as the real thing. Now the question, will not the 100Watt output cause my wiring harnesses to melt??? will it not burn my headlight's reflectors and lenses???? the bulbs works fine, but im concerned that with 7500k and a 100w output, my headlights would b toast in no time!

any ideas??? btw, piaa claims it only consumes 55watts.

if my standard bulbs were 51watts, would 55 watts work just fine? help!

It is physically impossible for something to consume 55W and be rated 100W. That would be even better than the proverbial *perpetual motion machine*. What you got here is a marketing gobble de gook. Search the forum here and you will find what they are doing and why they are claiming this. IMHO their claim is a lie and against the *truth in advertising rule*. Just my $0.02.

I've seen a government study on bulbs done in the UK and a PIAA Plasma that's advertised to shine like a 100W bulb puts out the same 1000-1,100 lumens the factory bulb puts out. If you want more lumens in a halogen bulb get the Phillips Vision Plus in the UK (autolamps-online.com is where I got mine, don't get the U.S. version), it's 1,500 lumens. In comparison, a real HID system is about 2,800-3,000 lumens. I live in a very well lit area and the Phillips are great for me. If you live or drive a lot in a dark rural area then consider the HID bulbs, the prices have come down and you can get a nice kit for under $400.

Also can you tell us has your visibility improved any over the stock bulbs at night.. thanks..

PS-anyone with pictures of these bulbs installed please post pictures.. thanks or send them to my email address at B001089158@tmu.edu.tw

sorry willsterc32...but i chose to resell my piaa bulbs to a friend. cw203 is right, the piaa bulbs looks good, very HID like, but the output on the road is horrible. actually my C240 has HID, i was gonna put the piaa's on my lexus is200.......looked good, but it was not even a quarter of the real HID output. in short, i was disappointed, but if u havent used real HID in another car, i guess, the piaa will make u happy. but once uve tried real hid...its a disappointment.

thanks for the quick response.. actually I do have xenons on my C32 but i was wanting to upgrade the lighting on my 2003 CRV so .... but yeah i figured the light output couldn't really be close to that of the real HID.. my new question now is, was the light output actually worse then that of the original bulb?? And is the color really blue or is it actually pretty close to our HIDs...because i would hate to drive around with people thinking i used color markers to paint my bulbs.. lol... thanks again...

willster..IMO....the piaa bulbs looks xenon like when looked at, bluish-white. however, the output/beam was "white" also if u stand directly infront of the car...just like wat xenons are.....but you will get disappointed with the brightness.

the color is right, but the brightness is disappointing.

comparing it with standard halogens...i think the halogens are a lot brighter.

but if u want to spend ur 100bucks...and really want the closest halogen bulbs to HID....then i think u better get a set now.

but if u value ur 100bucks..and value road illumination.......and dont really mind using standard halogens...then dont get one.

STFF and you will find your answers.
The bulb will physically fit. Reread Buell's post again.
