'07 c280 radio options

Hi all- I am new here.

I am wanting some Satellite options for my 2007 c280.

It has the factory radio (non-Bose) installed. No buttons for SAT.

I don't really want to go aftermarket, and it appears they all need to be a "custom fit".

Any advice as to how I can get Satellite radio without a portable unit and wires all over the place?

thanks

Since you have a 2007, they didn't come pre-wired for Satellite so you'll need a wiring harness just for that. You should search the forum on this, a few people have been frustrated by this fact as they assumed it was just adding the satellite unit and antenna. It's still possible, just be aware of this fact -- the dealer will tell you it's not possible. Steve Krabbenborg may be able to help you with this.

With the Audio 20 (standard headunit), a soft key will be available once the satellite unit is installed in the trunk - check your owner's manual. Please note, this won't be a cheap addition. You are looking at a minimum of $1,200 and most likely the dealer won't retrofit this because you don't have the pre-wiring. Only 2004, 2005, and 2006's have pre-wiring. Bon chance.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I wonder if ANY part of the fiber loop (if there even is a fiber loop) in an 07 without audio options goes into the trunk. If so, you can tap into that and I believe you'll just have to get the proper wake up line and power to the sat unit (plus antenna which can be installed back there under the rear deck). No one has tried this yet that I know of, so you would be in uncharted territory.
