Eclipse AVN726E

About to pull the trigger on this unit with backup cam, Ipod interface, wheel control interface and BT hooked up. Any pros/cons known on this unit? I know its new, so Im not sure many people have exposure to it. I know there will be a delay with the wheel controls, but other than that the installer said the unit will be flawless...

Getting a custom install done with matching wood going around the unit ( I HATE that plastic look of the dash kit).

I am looking for same unit ...Base on my installer, it is perfect unit (actually, I have tested unit on different car but the features are good) but I have problem in finding dash kit for my car (2007 R320 CDI). Can you ask installer about dash kit for R320 if he can make it ? you can send me answer on e-mail.

20x thanks ...

Alex

Well, I went to mobile one and Custom car audio here in houston and they both said they could make a custom dash kit to fit any headunit for $120.

I'm getting one made of CF while we speak...

That is the only other head unit I would buy other than Alpine. It is clean and they have a good quality behind them. I believe for the money it is a slightly better deal than a Alpine 505 but I could live easily with either.

Here is the final product - custom carbon fiber faceplate, Ipod integration ran to center console, steering wheel interface, Eclipse rear view camera, Bluetooth install, and 4 channel JBL amp in trunk.

Had the unit 2 weeks now. Sound is great and functionality is awesome. Only negatives I can say is the FM reception can be a little scratchy and the GPS takes 30 seconds or so to "register". Other than that - great unit!

The reduced FM reception is a common problem even with the AVIC's. Im having the same problem on mine. There was a thread floating around recently which said that applying some power (12V) to the antenna connection fixes the problem, but I haven't tried it as yet.

Looks good, may i ask why you didnt go with woodgrain dash instead of the cf? Thought it would have looked really good with the the wood trim already in place

They we unable to match the wood spot on... Just such an uncommon color. I didn't want woodgrain unless it was a 100% match and the CF looks much better than the black vinyl, IMO.

New HU looks good... Im thinking of installing a rear view camera too, do you have a pic of where you mounted yours?

I ran an amp because I plan to replace the speakers in the near future, but I believe the answer is an amp MUST be added if your OEM system does not have a factory amp because it is ran with fiber optic cables.
