weird things going on with moonroof

umm I just finished running the 4 gauge power line to trunk and when i started her...... the moonroof acted funny... it wouldn't open right and the switch seemed to have a mind of it's own. Panicking by this point I turned the car off and restarted it. Everything appears to be normal now. ANy ideas why this happened? Is it normal since the battery was disconnected for a while?

btw....... i just noticed that my fuel tank shows being low... I don't remember it being low... in fact, I think it was 1/2 full... is this related? I will find out in morning when i pump gas i guess.

You may need to resync the roof and to do that you need to....RTFM!

There is also known problems with the fuel sensor...if it continues to play up the dealer fix it under warranty.

Yes. Did you lose the one-touch on your windows too? I am surprised that this just fixed itself by restarting the car.

Don't forget to re-synch the ESP after disconnecting the battery.

Which is really just re-synching the steering angle sensor, right?

electro, did you get any ESP or other malfunctions on the dash after you disconnected the battery?

Shoot. You guys are making me nervous. I didn't drive her at all last night. I have been taking her apart for a few days now when I get home from work. I just turned her on in the garage last night without taking her for a spin, thus I didn't notice any ESP errors. The only thing that popped up was the warning saying that i was in the reserve fuel. Shoot........ So I should resync the ESP as well? crud.... what did I get myself into I will have to spend some time with the manual again tonight. Anything else I am supposed to do?
Thanks guys.

There's nothing to worry about.

When you disconnect the battery, there are usually two codes on the dash. One is ESP, I forget the other. All you have to do is reset the steering angle sensor so that ESP knows where the wheel is. Just turn the wheel all the way to the left and then all the way back to the right and then back to center. The lights should go out. But if you never had them in the first place, then there's no reason to do this.

Other than that, it's just windows and sunroof that usually need to be re-synched. With windows, you lose one-touch feature. With sunroof, you lose one-touch and it usually only moves about a half inch each time you push the button. Re-synching them fixes it. It's just one of the problems with having everything computer controlled. The computer needs to know the position of everything it controls.

electro, you said you're in the restaraunt business, right? You have a computer with internet in a restaurant? And how do you have the time to post while you are working, is it just during the down times?

Don't forget to resynch your muffler, and rotate the air in your tailights.

i already topped off my muffler fluid and changed my girocrank plugs .

heh.... Matt... yah.... Tonight I had a few chances to post when I was sitting in my office. Some days I am stuck in the office (ie ordering days etc...) but even then... it's not for long. When things slow down and the staff can handle it on their own, then I retire to the office. That's why sometimes it takes me a while to respond ........ cuz I will post and then walk out of my office for an hour or two when things pick back up.

oh yah..... i didn't get any of the ESP errors etc...... this is weird. Didn't have to put in the radio code, etc. Did have to reset the clock..... but nothing else so far has acted up. I am going to take a shower and hit the road for a little bit. Let you guys know when I get back.

There is no radio code, so at least you don't have to worry about this one!

MB doesn't use radio codes anymore on their new radios. It is only the models that still use older radios that have codes.

I am experiencing the same problems, how do you resync the car so the sunroof operates correctly?

I didn't read that in the manual, but it happened to me, and all I did was push and hold the button for a few seconds after it was closed then it worked fine.

Damn this is an old thread. This was when I was running 4 gauge to the trunk just to add 2 10" subs. BTW.... resync or not, my sunroof switch has eaten dirt as of 6 months ago. I no longer have 1 touch and I already resync'd. I forgot to mention it to dealer so I guess next time I will try to remember. BTW... if you want to resync then READ THE MANUAL. I did and you see i fixed my problem just fine, so I promise it's in there . Best of luck
