I changed the brake pads and the front rotors in my car today. the shop we got the parts from told me that there will be a sensor in the front and back. well i started on the right rear brake, and noticed the pad had the notch for the sensor but my friend and i couldn't find the sensor. so im asking, is there a sensor in the rear of the car?
i found the sensor easily on the front brakes, but rear showed no sign of a sensor ever being there/connected.

No. No rear sensors on the 2005 USDM C230.

I'm not sure how specific this is. They changed the number of and location of the sensors so many times that it probably varies by model year. If you're not getting a brake wear warning you don't have to worry about replacing the other sensors. If they were damaged or disconnected you would be getting a warning.

I'm not sure about the C240 or C320/350, but specifically, on the USA 2005 C230 there is no rear sensor. Just 1 front sensor.

What I meant to say was that it varies so much that I wouldn't be surprised if someone else with an 05 C230 had a rear sensor.

All the pads have the sensor hole as the same pads may be used in different models. But the C230 sport sedan has it in the passenger side front only.
