Digital Clock losing time

The digital 24hr clock on my C180 dash is intermittently losing time. Typically this is around 45 minutes in 2 or 3 days. From the pattern I've seen it looks more like the clock has maybe stopped, then restarted on its own, although it's possible that this is a case of a very inaccurate clock.

When I reset the time manually, it's fine for a few weeks, then the problem recurrs. There may be some correlation with cold weather.

Anyone else seen a problem like this, or have any diagnostic suggestions?

Almost every day (eg. at least 6 days a week for a total of around 300 - 350 freeway miles per week), and the Radio Memory is fine.

I'm thinking of taking it in to the dealership as the car is still covered by an extended warranty. Of course, it's debateable if this repair would be covered or not.

If you've got an extended warranty, just take it in and have them deal with fixing it.

Could just be the clock, or could be a symptom of bigger electrical issues.

Yeah, I dropped it off for repair today. Turns out the extended warranty should cover the cost of any replacement parts, but MB do reseve the right to charge for any extensive diagnosis work. (I'm in the UK, by the way, so the warranty terms may be different locally).

I'll post the outcome when I pick up the car tomorrow (assuming we're not snowed in by then, as there's severe weather forecast overnight).

So the dealership diagnosed a faulty instrument panel. Replacement part covered by extended warranty, to be shipped from Germany and fitted on arrival sometime next week.
