performance chip for 2006 c230
Hey guys,
i just recently purchased a performance chip and plan on hooking it up soon. Took me awhile to figure out where the IAT was and found that it was integrated with the MAF. Now that I located the maf, i will need to hook the chip to that module. There are five wires and need to know which ones are the IAT. I could not find anything online with a 2006 c230, could anyone help me on this.
thanks

performance chip that connects to map...interesting, i thought you had to send the ECU out to get it reflashed?...ohhh wait, thats the way i did it .
let me find out , your "performance chip" came from eBay?

Most of the "chip offers" that are not a legit ECU re-flash (i.e. the ebay stuff), require you to make a bunch of connections to other components, and that is not the way to go. What your "chip" is probably made to do is to alter your MAF and other sensor inputs to trick the car to think it can run leaner or richer, which gives the impression of improved performance. This can cause many other issues, so be very wary.
The real way to alter any programing is to have the entire ECU reflashed by a company that has a track record with MB's. Anything that involves additional wiring to factory components should be a red flag. Almost all of the members of this forum who have taken this route do so only with an ECU reflash, not hard wiring into very sensitive induction components.

Reflashing is not "safer" way...its the ONLY way!!!! the minute you splice any wires , resistance will change , and computer/sensor will have hard time communicating with each other.

As said, the only way to get a ecu flash or any modified ecu program is to actually remove the ecu from the top center of the engine and send it away, it has to be burned at the location, you can not flash it like you can with most cars via ODBII and you cant just splice in something on the electrics to do it either, you are modding your car with proverbial snake oil.
MBs cost money expect to pay 300 plus for a flash, there is no such thing as a 30 dollar 20hp gain.

You'll notice a difference. But IMO the 10 hp gain isn't worth 700 bucks.
In standard form, the C350 3.5 produces 268 hp and 258 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 278 hp and 284 hp, and it's torque to between 268 lb.-ft and 273 lb.-ft.
Notice the word "between" depending on Octane rating. Here in SoCal we get 91. So that means i'll gain the least rated power which is 278. My stock is 268 so is 700 bucks worth it to gain 10hp??
Not for me..sorry
BUT for the C230 it's a different story.
In standard form, the C230 2.5 produces 201 hp and 181 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 215 hp and 221 hp, and it's torque to between 193 lb.-ft and 199 lb.-ft.
So you C230 guys get almost 5 extra horses (15hp) than us C350 guys (10hp).

Renntech and Klemann I believe are a little more aggressive because they pull more power than powerchip (atleast that's what they claim)

for c240 owners
In standard form, the C240 2.6 produces 168 hp and 177 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 183 hp and 186 hp, and it's torque to between 192 lb.-ft and 196 lb.-ft.

My next car is going to be a CL600 Bi-Turbo. They came down to low 30s and for mide to high 30 you can get a good one.
In standard form, the CL600 5.5 V12 twin-turbo produces 493 hp and 590 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 581 hp and 591 hp, and it's torque to between 690 lb.-ft and 696 lb.-ft.
Or a CL65
In standard form, the CL65 AMG 6.0 TT V12 produces 604 hp and 738 lb.-ft.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 664 hp and 670 hp, and it's torque to between 811 lb.-ft and 819 lb.-ft.
This is why the B5 S4s are beasts. KO4 upgrade and a Chip and you are already easily at 500hp from 260hp. 4 Door all wheel drive sleeper.
