Extended Warrenty... Is it worth it?
My MB warranty runs out April 10th I have 40K on the car. I just bought an extension for 3yr or 45,000 mile for $2000.00 Drivetrain,Engine, and Tranny only.
Do you think it was worth it?

please tell me you mean an additional 45k miles...as in a total of 75k... hahaa...and honestly i dont see our cars having more than 2k worth of engine drivetrain or tranny issues by 75k miles but im sure if your tranny did go out it would cost more than 2k in parts and labor...so maybe...i paid over 3k for up to 80k miles and mine is nearly all inclusive...problem is so far everthing that has gone wrong hasn't been covered...ie i had my traction control error the other month and though my warranty covers my traction control it conveniently doesn't cover the specific sensor that was faulty...MB wanted 225 for the inspection and then another $650 just to fix it...i told them to basically F off and i walked out...

Depends, I bought it when I got the car through my credit union is was 1800 dollars, bumper to bumper extension for 3 years and 32k after the day I bought the car, so for another 2 years and 7 months. Gives me piece of mind, front and rear, SAMs, Rear end, tranny, engine, electronics, crap can brake and its never just the 100 dollars I pay for a deductible, and certified reputable MB labor aint cheap.

The dealership will mostly find a reason which will void the clauses in the contract.

The sad part about all this is that I could name you at least two independents in the Bradenton/ Sarasota area which do much more reputable work than any technician at MB Sarasota or in St. Pete.

Not worth it, plain and simple. The M272 and 722.9 transmissions are well sorted. Powertrain failures on the M272 cars are unheard of this board. Transmission failures are also preciously rare.
