Retrofitting Heated Seats

!-- @page { size: 8.5in 11in; margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } --> Has anyone retrofitted heated seats or knows the process that would be required? I know they make aftermarket kits but I would prefer to at least have the OEM switches and timing. Is this feasible for a reasonable amount of money? This is in a 2007 C230

I have retrofitted the oem heated front seats on my car, as well as other members of this forum. Please do a search using the search function and you will gain information that will answer your questions.

In short you will need:
wire harness
upper control unit
oem seat backs and seat bottoms

obviously, the seat covers were the most expensive part.

Its going to be costly to do this which is why I just warm up my car before I get in it but that was when I was living in NYC but now I am in SoCal there is no need to warm up my car. But if you do go through with this make sure to post up some DIY pics!! GL

I'm sure if you're technically inclined you can get a new switch row and harness, and then plug into aftermarket heat pads that go under the seat covers. Much cheaper.

Maybe you live in some bowl or something.. Trust me at 6am the car is no fun to be in.. Leather seats are so cold.. Maybe if you leave your car out front of your house and in the sun.. but for people that garage there ride.. it gets pretty chilly..

And yes this has been done before posted a few times..

My car stays in a temp controlled parking garage so maybe thats why But I agree some days are a little chilly but not enough for me to want heated seats here, maybe when I was in NYC yeah but no need here IMO.

My garage at my house is temp controlled so this is a non-issue for me, as well. Neither the C230 or 135i have heated seats. I had them in my previous G37/TL/Accords but they were nothing to write home about. A lot of people really like them but they're just not useful to me.

I only find them useful in the SL when it starts to get a bit cool with the top down. Other than that, not worth it to me.

Furthermore, per the owners manual for my old TL, they're a huge drain on the electrical system and IDK about Benz but the TL's were prone to failing.

This time you fail!

Heated seats kick *** and don't put all that much of a drain on the system (compared to the rear defroster for example). They automatically turn off should the system be low on power for whatever reason. Lack of heated seats is a deal breaker for me, but I'm in NY. If I lived in a warmer climate I'm sure I wouldn't care nearly as much about that option.

Yeah IDK about Benz.. but the TL's manual specifically stated that overuse of the seat heaters would drain the cars battery whether it was running or not.
