Glovebox Handle Just...Fell Off

The other day the glovebox handle came right off when I went to open it. I didn't yank hard on it or anything. It simply just came off. Somehow after a few tries I was able to snap it back on but there was a wire/spring thing that came out with it that I didnt have the patience/time to figure out how to reassemble. while the handle/latch engages and appears to be operating properly, the glovebox light in there no longer comes on. I assume this has something to do with the wire/spring.

Anybody have any issues with the handle and/or have some sort of diagram/breakdown of how the handle/glovebox is assembled? I know its a long shot but figure I'd throw it out there anyway.

Thanks for any input.

The glovebox light on my car works sometimes, doesn't work other times. It has a different switch in my car and has nothing to do with the handle.

hmmm...guess i'll look into where the switch is.

Will a bulb indicator show on the MFD for a dead glovebox light bulb?

Nothing will show up on the MFD but this wire/spring you speak of sound to me like a resistance spring for the handle. Does the handle feel loose of not go all the way back into place at all now? For the light your going to have to search for the location of the switch and possibly even change the bulb out. GL.

Thanks, so perhaps its just a dead bulb.

As for the wire, the handle doesn't feel loose and returns to the closed position. The wire is less of a springy/coil/resistance type and more of a straight (with a few bends i believe) hard wire (perhaps half the thickness of a coat hanger). I'll take a pic and post it. seems like it should click/engage something when the handle is moved.

While I know you're just making a wisecrack, I consider this more of an anomaly and falls under the category of sometimes stuff just breaks. if you wanna talk bout sh*ty engineering i'd refer ya to this - https://mbworld.org/forums/3739865-post136.html
