H&R Sport Springs
I am planning on getting the H&R lowering Sport Springs for my C320.
Anyone with experience on the H&R springs have any opinions on them? How are they handling wise? How is the ride? Looks clean and all right?
Mine is prefacelift, meaing the car sits high as hell, i want to lower them all while increasing handling and just give up a lil ride quality.
I got a quote for $350 for the spings, and 265 for labor/installation and alignment. Does this sound right?
Give me some ideas before I get them done. thanks

Springs are a bit high, $$ wise. You can get them for ~$250. Labor is reasonable.
H&R is a well respected/ proven brand. They will definitely ride firmer than stock and with the lower center of gravity, progressive rate springs, handling will be improved. Are you replacing shocks/strutes as well?

On the H&R website: http://hrsprings.com/scripts/appguid...enz%20|%20C320
They list them as $379 for the springs. I got a quote from Les schwab for $350 and $585 for everything out the door. [aligment/install/parts]
I want to put in Bilstien monotube shocks along with the H&R springs set up. When i get enough money, ill get their sway bars

If you're interested I've got an H&R Cup Kit for your vehicle (31004-1) for sale. It is listed on the H&R applications page you posted. More info here:

So just had some other last minute questions..
Some of my friends who have had their h&r springs on said the cambers wear out a lot faster, is this true on the w203?
Will it mess up with any of the sensors? [steering angle, ESP wheel sensors?]
Is alignment a must after installing the springs?

By 'cambers wear out faster' do you mean the tires wear out faster becasue of the camber?
Handling-wise, the car handles worlds better with these springs (I put in the Bilstein sport struts too). This setup is much stiffer than stock and stiffer than the '04.5+ sport suspension. It's a little bouncy at times (stiff springs on rough roads) but one trip up in the mountains makes it all worthwhile.
Looks-wise, if you do a little searching you'll find plenty of pics. I put a thicker pad in the rear to make things a little more asthetically pleasing, and because I wanted to be able to have adults/cargo in the rear without bottoming out.
If I were to do it again, I think I might look at the Bilstein BTS setup (complete matching spring/shock setup) as I think it's right in line price-wise with other spring/shock combos and I'd guess the ride is a tad less harsh than my current setup(note this is just conjecture, not from experience)...
Have fun!

Well, im not entirely sure about the cambers, my buddy just mentioned it to me after he got his done. [he told me its expensive to keep replacing the bearings]
Im running with current 16", so the soft sidewall of the Michelins should compensate for the ride comfort. The improved handling and dropped look is really all i need.
Thanks so much for the discriptive details, i now know what i want, and cant wait to put the springs on!![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Will post some pics when done for you guys.

I've still got the H&R Cup Kit (includes springs and shocks) specifically designed for your car, if you're interested.

Can someone explain to me what the 'Triple C Camber Adjustment Bolts' for alignment/fitment are, after the springs are installed?? ![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
...seems like my tires are going to wear out even more with these springs on.

How's the car treating you? I used to have H&R Sport Springs myself and while I LOVED the handling, the ride quality was terrible, considering I lived in Westwood, where the roads are worse than a third world country!

Thanks for the compliments guys.
I only put on 50 miles since i had them installed and aligned, so the springs still need to get settled in.
Ride wise, its much stiffer. City driving to me is ok, it feels almost like stock; calm, quiet, smooth, and a lot more solid and stable... on the freeway, its an entire different story.
Driving on the freeway, its kinda uncomfortable. Ride is bouncy and stiff. Since your at faster velocities, road noise is louder, imperfections on the road is more pronounced and did i mention you bounce a lot more..?
Handling wise, its great. Took my car on to a test track yesterday and had tons of fun. You gotta have very good tires to compliment these springs though. Dedicated springs wont do any good without dedicated rubber or else youll begin to feel the car let go and start to oversteer. You will notice at higher speeds, these springs really shine when pushed to the limits.
Looks wise, i love it. Cleaner stance, and a more modern euro stream line look.
Any problems? Yes, negative camber in the rears are increased by 2 degress. Front camber is factory adjustable. No rubbing issues at all.

white and whiter
you bounce a lot more is because the long strut tube is constantly compressed and not working in their rightful travel range where they can absorb the shock. if you get the bilstein or koni shocks which is made for shorter springs will solve some of the harsh bounce you feel. firm suspension feel is different.
