C240 trunk net info

You guessed it, I can't reply to the previous thread.

I put the trunk net in my C240 and had to get the rings also. Let me dig through some papers to get the part #....

Let's see

The cargo net is #6-4-66-0063. It was $33.95.
There are 2 different D-rings
Part #203-860-00-14 ($5 each) & Part # 210-860-02-14 ($1.80 each).

You need two of each, and for two of them (the one's closest to the rear seatback) I had to hit the hardware store to pick up two bolts to screw them in. The other two screw in place with bolts that are already there.

It took the parts guy over a week to figure out what parts I needed?

Thanks!

John, thanks for posting the info. Could you let me know which part # is for the rings nearest the "front" of the trunk (away from the seats)? Also, from where those slits are in the trunk "carpet", it looked like the rings might attach to the bumper struts "things" that are under the carpet??? I wasn't sure where they're anchored. Are you saying the front ones bolt into the trunk floor with existing bolts? Anyway, if you could clarify I'd appreciate it.

More-- also, the rings near the back seats, where do the bolts for those attach? Do you have to drill something?

There were no bolts there originally. if you look, you'll see 2 black hole plugs, just pull 'em out and you are set. As far as the bolt size, I believe they were smaller than the 2 by the spare. I just bought a lot of different ones and got lucky, I don't know what size they are. When you pick up your gold plated D-rings, just ask for some bolts, I bet they have them. i just didn't know I would need them and didn't want to trek back to the dealer.

BigBadDad,

Can you post out the picture of your trunk net too. Just want to see how it looks like. If it looks good and useful, I maybe want a set of this trunk net too.

Thanks

OK, I just went out to my car to check inside the trunk again. First, I have the other net, the one that attaches across the "front" of the trunk. But, that doesn't matter, the "D" rings are the same, except I really don't need the ones closer to the rear seats.

Like I had said, and according to your (great) pictures, the bolt for the front rings looks like the end of some sort of bumper strut. I was concerned about removing that bolt since I thought it might be under "pressure" so to speak. When you removed those bolts there was nothing that tried to break free (they're not really "load bearing")? Anyway, I'm going to order the rings from my dealer. Thanks again!

I don't know what the bolts purpose is, but I had no problem with anything when I took them out. I suppose I should have checked 1st. I did only remove one at a time.

Glad to help - John

OK, I called and ordered the 2 sets of D rings today from my dealer, EuroMotocars in Bethesda, MD. Interesting, but the prices he quoted were about double yours, $10.15 each for the "front" rings, and 4.25 each for the ones near the rear seats. He said the prices should be the same for all MB dealers. Since I really need the front (expensive) ones, I figured I'd get both sets. I'll re-check the prices when I go to pick them up. Are they made of sterling silver?? Oh well...
