Have your thermostat checked. My CEL was going on and off intermitently and it kept showing up as the "Altitude Sensor," so I kept getting it re-set. Eventually, the shop did a deeper check into it and found out that my thermostat needed to be replaced. A good indicator is if your temp is running cooler than normal.

I know right Kev? I'm loving the airbox though, and boy I'm loving it even more when I pop the hood.
Thanks Phil and Drex. Cathching up, slowly but surely.
Drex; it had nothing to do with my altitude sensor.. more like the battery/alternator. But it's been fine for a few days. Hoping it's just my battery, which reminds me; what optima battery are you using? I remember reading a thread which you and Jose were experimenting. Also, do you know if there are premade brackets for the smaller batts?

Did you get a red BATTERY/ALTERNATOR WORKSHOP light that came up, but then disappeared? I never ended up getting an OPTIMA. I'm using OEM. Jose and Frank both tried that, but I know Jose had some issues with it.

Oh, similar issue I've been seeing coming up. Didn't get a chance to have my mechanic take a look at it last weekend, so I'm going in this coming Saturday.

If you search up on yellow tops in all the forums, there've been some other threads discussing people using those instead of OEM battery. Seemed to be more prominent discussions of it in the CLK and E class forums (chassis from the past decade), if that helps narrow down the thread searches.

The only optima I've heard doesn't cause issues is the yellow top, but that's just as heavy (slightly smaller) than the OEM anyway. Unless you're running major aftermarket audio (e.g. bigger amp/subwoofer/etc...), yellow top isn't really necessary. The OEM battery, from what I've been told, is designed to handle electronics running when the engine is off (e.g. convenience seating/lighting, interior dome lighting, radio), based on the OEM equipment.

Comes with the life of the car. I might go have it looked at tomorrow morning. Since the weather started getting warmer, it hasn't been as quirky, but if I can wake up early enough, it'll be worth it for peace of mind. It's really odd though.
