check engine light came on

c320 with 48000 miles

no symptoms, car driving fine... (remember my car was the one that need an engine exchange because i got water in the engine last fall....its been about 3000 miles)

what sucks is that the in dash screen says "no message"

so im wondering if i should just goto dealer, because i still have extended 7/100000 mile warrenty or to my local shop...

Check the temperature. My CEL was showing up intermittently and initially, the ODB II reader was indicating the "altitude sensor" was throwing the error. Kept on re-setting, until I finally got tired of it coming back. My mechanic did a deeper test and found out my thermostat was bad, so they had to replace it.

If your temp is lower than normal, it might be the thermostat.

In my c230, check light came on close to the same miles you have , it was the thermostat.
