Mirror Disassembled!

Hi guys,
My wife broke the turn signal indicator on her 2005 C240 4Matic Wagon. Being the loving husband, I ordered the part and attempted to install it as per instructions I found on this website.

Upon removal of the clip attached to the mirror, I pulled the mirror off. The mirror, however, has two wires attached to it that cannot be removed. No big deal. I removed the three torx screws attached to the motor. Behind the motor is where I ran into some big issues.

There is a large plastic that is held in place with a swing arm and sturdy plastic tabs. There are no screws that hold this piece in place. Also, there is a stout spring attached to this piece that I managed to remove. This plastic piece is preventing me from accessing the turn signal to be replaced. How is this thing removed? I can't budge it. Thanks!

The cover is supposed to slide off, and the wires slide out from it, leaving the cover and the turn signal in one piece separate from everything else. The mirror itself does not need to come out. Mine fell out when I took the cover off. I just left it on the window sill and reinstalled it once I had replaced the cover.

Thanks for the help. The housing never slid off. I tried everything to get it off. I managed to take the spring off, and I probably could have left it on. I called MB and they quoted me $120. I'm afraid I'll do more damage than good.

yeah, I understand. The trick is to fold the mirror one way and release that clip, then carefully fold it the other way and undo that clip. It's hard to do without one of the clips going back. It took me a while, and it didn't help that one of the metal rods that secures the mirror was bent, and I couldn't slide a screwdriver past it.
