Auto lighting and windshield wipers

Well here is my question.
I noticed that on my car when switching to the next wiper selection, other than Off of course, the auto lighting cycle starts over again: i.e. the lights turn off and then back on after 30 or so seconds.
Has anybody here experienced this or would be willing to check out?
My dealer was at a loss and called MB. What he then relayed to me was that MB will not look into this issue or do anything about it unless it happens at night time.
I put in a call to MB to voice my displeasure and am awaiting a call back.
Is it really necessary for there to be a fix for this? Let's say that it is not normal, does it really matter if they fix it or not. I agree with MB that as long as it doesn't do it at night, there's no reason to do anything about it. Get out and drive and stop looking for potential problems.

Its an annoyance.
I wonder if this happens on 02s prior to the software change they did for 03s? Remember the dyno mode (Alamo)?
LOL
Remember the dyno mode (Alamo)?
LOL
I'm sure you'll say no, but the dyno mode changes so much based on driving conditions, that I think it would be hard to get an accurate reading anyway. The dipstick is surely the best way and the computer (non-dyno mode) is probably the second best way to determine oil level.

LOLYou've got a dipstick now, no dyno mode needed, right?
LOL

Actually this is a great question as it is illegal in some states to drive with your wipers on and not the head lights. NY is one that is like this. PA just added that headlights are needed when driving through a construction zone. These are both secondary infractions in there respective state and they can only issue a ticket if you have already broken some other law, ie speeding, but none the less an annoyance. The lights shoudl come on and stay on as soon as the wipers are turned on, 15-30 second delay is fine, but once you are past that delay and leave the wipers on they should stay on no matter how many times you switch from intermitant(rain sense as well) to low and high. In NY the full lights must be on when the wipers are on, and in PA the full lights must be on when going through construction. That means daylight running lamps will not cut it. Personally I hate the fact that I can not engage the fogs in auto mode, and must go from auto to on and then pull. But I can turn them on with jsut the parking on.

I will test this weekend as it is supposed to rain here Saturday and Sunday. I will post after I have checked it out.

I'll guess I wait and see for a rainy nighttime situation now and see if the autolamp will override the wiper light turn on.
