Pre-wire?

I just purchased a used 2006 C280
VIN WDBRF92H96F790707
The dealer told me it was pre-wired for a cell phone

I read a few post here and what I have done is poped open the trunk and look on the passengesr side. There are wires behind the liner labeled "PHONE" but there isn't any hardware
Also in the center console I do not have the cradle

The dealer gave me a bluetooth puck and a quote for the remaining hardware
Q6820907 $176
Q6820965 $159
Q6820967 $180

My questions are:
Does "Pre-wire" mean the microphone and radio control wiring is already in place?
Do I really need all this if I'm always driving in a good cell area?
Will the Q6820965 and Q6820967 work without the Q6820907?

a quarter mile at a time
Don't know exactly what those numbers are, but pre-wired does not mean your car is ready for a bluetooth puck. You still need the MHI kit installed. It does mean that the microphone and other supporting wiring is there, and your car was coded with the phone option. This was all taken out in the 2007 models.

To get bluetooth working you need the MHI module and kit, and a bluetooth puck.

Thanks guys
I will get the MHI install kit and give a try at installing

I know where the core modual and cradle gets installed
If anyone knows where the compensator is installed that would be helpful

You can find the install guides for most Mercedes vehicles between 2000 and 2005 HERE.

Did things change for '06? I understood that a BT setup for my year ran around $1,100.

Any follow up from this. It'd be nice if someone who finished there Bluetooth install came back to give us details so others can be informed.

I did the install in a couple hours. Cost was around $450 using OEM parts. In my case there was no need to re-code anything. Do a search in the C32/C55 forum for the install link.
