Thanks for the post. I noticed that the original filter had plastic ends, looked a little better made than the one the dealership sold me for replacement. Your photo shows the type filter the replacement was and eased my mind a little. I have never seen such a contraption for an oil filter! Putting the oil in now.
Each different manufacture's filter has a different part number on the actual filter itself. The key to getting the right filter for your vehicle is the part number on the box of the filter you got.
