Looks like the LCD is malfunctioning.

I'm not trying to offend you and it does work but why did the trip went up and not the actual mileage?

I doubt the LCD will malfunction but rather the IC. Maybe in the removal process it got messed up somehow. Hey but that's a good mod because now your miles will never go up.

No joke but I would delete that. You are on a public forum and you admitted that you drove around and your miles didn't change

I drove down the street. and took the picture at a red light with my phone. I honestly don't know what happened with the trip computer.

Unplugging the cluster could have done something, but I don't think it has anything to do with replacing the LCD. lets wait and see what the other four people say when they install their screens

I'm just teasing you. Don't stress too much about it. Just go for a good drive and see if it changes. Maybe it doesn't go by 1 mile. Maybe it goes by minimum 5 miles then changes so don't worry.

Product works guys for sure this isn't because of the LCD.

seems to be working fine. According to your last picture you increased by 28 miles which is what your trip meter is reading also

Awesome! Just be careful with the ribbon, one guy accidentally bent the ribbon and he had to order another one from me. Follow that diy carefully

I do not have 2 on hand anymore, they were sold right after I ordered them. If anyone else wants one I will place another order.

So what he broke the wire in the ribbon cable or something? Just curious so i don't make the same mistake.

He said he bent part of the ribbon on accident. I am not sure though. I was careful and had no problems

okay. there is a piece of protective film on the new screen you have to peel off. I made sure to take note which way the ribbon went in to the connector, as there is a half circle shape missing out of one side

That be me, old "five thumbs". I accidentally cracked the old screen taking it out and the new one playing with the ribbon cable. The two white plastic clips that hold the screen in at the bottom were the culprits. Put the screen in before connecting the ribbon cable. And when you install the screen push down evenly at both clips so the screen doesn't 'rock' going in. If you flex the screen it will crack.

Thanks for the tips
Sorry about your screens

I am just wondering, What is wrong with these screens. It looks okay base on the pictures of your install.

Can you post some pictures of the issues that these screen made that made them defective?

It is not that hard looking just i don't want to solder around my IC if i break it the dealer charges would be over 1k easy. All you do is add resistors to make the contrast be correct. Others that actually didn't have this issue seemed to die after a few days but i don't know exactly how they died.

yea not too hard but you need a decent multimeter and the proper resistors. Its something i could do at school since all the equipment and resistors are available. But looks like a PITA. Were they not willing to refund you for the lcd?

Wow.. that is the reverse of having a blank screen!!!

Nah.. I don't think I will understand how to do this. Not an electrical engineer in person. Although, with enough time spent, I can. HAHA. Life is too short to try fixing something where there is another product that works out there. Or it seems that it works for now.

Perhaps other members wants to take a whack at this?
